This week retreat is about generously giving yourself time and space. In a caring, supportive, and absolutely stunning setting, you can offer your body, heart, and mind the opportunity to unwind from their daily stresses. This week offers a refilling of our vital energies. Yoga and mindfulness are tools to help us better meet the fullness of life with all of its beauty, chaos, and heartbreak. We learn how to more wholeheartedly enjoy the delights of life and how to meet our struggles compassionately. Through immersing yourself in the daily yoga, mindfulness meditation classes, dharma talks as well as delighting in the delicious meals and sitting by the calming river, you will build up more physical, emotional, and mental strength and flexibility. You can then return home recharged and full of life.
This retreat is open to everyone of all levels and experience.
This retreat will be held in silence.
Engaging in a silent retreat, especially if you're new to silence, offers a unique opportunity for self-discovery and inner growth. While it might seem daunting at first, immersing yourself in silence can be incredibly liberating. It allows you to step away from the habitual patterns of everyday life, giving you the space to connect more deeply with yourself. This isn’t always an easy task but it is deeply rewarding. Layers of fixed behaviour get shed, leaving you lighter and freer. Silence fosters mindfulness and presence, offering a pathway to deeper insights, personal reflection, and spiritual connection.

Nourish your senses by spending time by the river, in the gardens, amongst the bamboo, around the goldfish pond

Time to pause and turn towards yourself.
To feel into this moment through your body, heart, and mind.
Space to take care of yourself just as you need.
To remember how to more fully delight in life. no matter your current circumstance.

How to get there:
From BORDEAUX, it is an 1h30 drive or you can take the train to Perigieux and then a taxi to Cubjac.

ARRIVALS
You are welcome to arrive from 14h on Septemebr23.
DEPARTURE
Rooms need to be vacated by 10h on the closing day of this retreat. You are welcome to stay for lunch. We ask that you leave the Moulin by 14.30h.
KARMA YOGA ~ Giving of service
Moulin de Chaves is a non profit Association. Everyone who comes here on retreat contributes 50 mins of their time each day towards the running of the Moulin. This may be anything from washing up, veggie chopping, cleaning, or gardening. This practice is done in silence. We thank you in advance for helping us in this way.
WHY SILENCE?
Silent retreats are the only types of retreats I book for myself. Over the years of stepping back yearly into silence, I have grown so much. There are insights found in silent retreats that aren’t as easily found in setting of communication. Through time spent turning deeper inwards, not having to check in with others or stimulate my mind in conversation, I have gotten to know myself more and more intimately. The more I get to know myself, the more I find I really like myself. Silent retreats, even through the storms they can bring up, have taught me how to love myself fully and unconditionally. This doesn’t mean I am perfect. Oh no! I have come to love my messy complicated humanness. And the more at peace I am with who I and and how I am, the more at peace I am with the world around me. I think more peace is what each of us and the world needs. Peace takes courage. It takes stamina and generous heaps of compassion. All this gets trained up on a silent retreat. That’s why I keep going back, year after year. I hope that you will join me. May this retreat be of support to you for you to find even more access to you boundless heart: full of love, compassion, joy and spaciousness.
ACCOMMODATION
All rooms in the main house share two bathrooms and toilets on each floor of the building. Single rooms ensuite are in the new Dharma hall a short walk from the main house where the meals are served.
We provide bedding and towels for all rooms.
MEALS
During your stay here, you will be offered 3 healthy and nutritionally balanced vegetarian meals. The main meal of the day is lunch with a lighter supper of soup, bread and spreads in the evening. We endeavour to use organic and fair-trade ingredients as much as possible and are on the road to being 100% organic.
For those who are vegan, wheat, gluten or diary free, or have any other dietary restrictions, we can provide on request a simple diet of steamed vegetables, a simple protein such as lentils, pulses and a simple carbohydrate. We are sorry but we are unable to offer any other more specialized diets.
Hots drinks are available all day.
